Worrybody

Oh, Worry! You are the prettiest jewel! I will eat your eyes and I will drink your drool! Life’s a science class and signs are worn in sparkling blood and things are held thicker than mud. I had a dream we were hanging out with a thousand lizard’s tails that shadowed and turned out the sun. And if God is love, well then love hurts. Oh, worry! The light goes. Let it slide and let it go and arrive because what you found is what you find.

Float

What you have will be found again. And nothing escapes and escapes again flung into the old story told. Blooms run from. When they come they will come so softly singing songs about the times so frightening and where they go no one knows wound so tightly. The song is sung softly. When they come they will float so lightly. What you have will be found again into pieces and together again. The bright lurch of everything and what is left will always sing.

North Carolina

I’ve got nothing to show and time moves so slow and in the wind our ashes will blow and in the swell we will glow. And we have everything I know, oh no, I know I know. And take good care of them on the Carolina shore. I’ve got to get myself together. I’ve got to get myself dressed. I’ve got to know all the things I already know, oh no, I know.

Scree

The day plush in warbled bird song. Today I watched a stranger in the street and the vomit strung from them in a quiet scree of gray and green push and shake in hung lines strummed by the breaking morning. And once I sang “I feel old.” And once I hope that I’ll sing in the shimmer of spring that the birds will bring that “I am old, I am whole, I am home.”
